Tonight in the shop I am going to be starting the work on a down tube replacement. I built a very cool concept frame for the North American Handmade Bicycle Show this past February in Richmond, Virginia. It was fitted with S & S couplers, Columbus LIFE tubing and the frame was the first in the world to hide a real time GPS transponding device inside the down tube. A concept frame is exactly what it was, and it really wasn’t suited to the rigors of real-world riding. To fit the device I needed a gigantic mixed material 1 3/4″ carbon/steel down tube. This huge tube was way too heavy and would have created way too stiff a ride for 99% of people out there. I am going to replace the down tube with a much more modest 1 3/8″ steel version, and it will still have an S & S coupler. The frame has a 54 cm C-C seat tube, and a 54.5 cm C-C top tube. Full geometry available upon request. Designed to be a great all-around road bicycle. It will be completely repainted and sold as a complete bicycle. The plan right now is for SRAM Force gruppo, Easton EC90SLX fork amd Ritchey components. If you contact me before I paint it we can work on a paint design together and tweak the components.
